Privacy Policy

Typerain is a competitive typing game with online leaderboards. We only collect data needed to run those leaderboards, rankings, progression, and the daily challenge. We do not sell your data, show third-party advertising, or use third-party analytics or tracking. If you turn off score submission, we don't store any gameplay data about you at all.

a) When you submit scores (online play with score submission enabled — the default):

We store the following in our leaderboard database:

• Steam account identifier (SteamID) and your Steam display name, used to identify your entries.
• Gameplay data per run: score, words cleared, best combo, words-per-minute, accuracy, time survived, the selected Speed and Word difficulty, game mode (endless or daily), the daily challenge date, the competitive season, and the date/time of the run.
• Progression and cosmetic data: your level, total experience points (XP), equipped username cosmetics (name color, banner, glow, effect, badge), and your private-profile preference.

b) Stored only on your device (not transmitted to us):

Settings and preferences are saved locally on your computer, including audio volume and mute state, display/resolution settings, your chosen cosmetic preferences, your score-submission preference, your private-profile preference, and (in non-Steam play) any display name you type.

c) We do not collect:

Email addresses, passwords, payment or financial information, real names, postal addresses, contacts, location data, or any biometric data. Purchases and account authentication are handled entirely by Steam — we never receive your payment details.

• To display and rank entries on global leaderboards (per difficulty and the daily challenge).
• To calculate and show progression (XP, levels, titles, cosmetics).
• To run the shared Daily Challenge and seasonal leaderboards.
• To show public player profiles (your stats, level, and cosmetics).
• To detect and prevent cheating or abuse, and to moderate the leaderboards.

Leaderboards and profiles are public. When score submission is enabled, your Steam display name, level, equipped cosmetics, and scores are visible to other players in-game. If you enable Private Profile in the game's options, you are hidden from all public leaderboards and profiles while still earning XP, levels, and achievements.

• Don't submit scores: Turn off "Submit scores to leaderboards" in the in-game options. When off, no gameplay data is stored on our servers and you earn no online progression.
• Private profile: Turn on "Private profile" to remain hidden from all public leaderboards and profiles.
• Access, correction, or deletion: You may request a copy of the data associated with your SteamID, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@typerain.fun from a verifiable address and include your Steam profile or SteamID. We will action verified requests within a reasonable period.

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the game:

• Supabase — provides the hosted database and infrastructure that stores leaderboard, profile, and progression data on our behalf. Data is processed on Supabase's cloud infrastructure, which may be located outside your country of residence.
• Valve / Steam — the distribution platform. Steam provides your identity (SteamID and display name) and manages achievements. Your use of Steam is governed by Valve's own privacy policy.

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Score and profile data is retained to maintain leaderboards, seasonal records, and progression. We retain it for as long as your entries remain relevant to the leaderboards, or until you request deletion. Settings stored on your device remain until you clear them or uninstall the game.

Where required, we rely on your consent (which you give by enabling online score submission, and may withdraw at any time by disabling it) and our legitimate interests in operating fair, competitive leaderboards and preventing cheating.

Typerain is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@typerain.fun and we will delete it.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we store. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

By using the game, you understand your data may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the online features after changes constitutes acceptance.
